Tim Blake Nelson is the almost-hidden-gem in this otherwise by-the-numbers film. His authentic and subtle portrayal of Ralph Meyer was a joy to watch. In every scene he gives us the raw and nuanced performance of a man beaten down since childhood. If only his fellow actors had brought the same intensity to the screen: it would have helped this film rise above its earnest but often superficial take on its core theme.

Whenever a new basketball movie comes out, I am always curious to see how the game is portrayed and what elements are used to differentiate the film from its predecessors. Upon watching, I discovered that The Way Back is not a purely basketball film but a story of a man stumbling through life and using the sport as a branch to prevent him from hitting the ground.

Ben Affleck puts a on compelling performance of a man battling his demons and despite basketball managing to bring some happiness into his life, he can never trully heal his scars. Considering how difficult it is to get creative with sports movies, through its narrative, this film manages to put its own touch which will make basketball fans enjoy the grit, realism and attitude towards the game. Music deserves a separate mention as it adds impact to the dramatic nature of the film.

The Rhythm Section (2.5 out of 5 stars).

The Rhythm Section is an action drama that is more of a dud for a revenge type thriller that is suppose to start a series. Based on the trilogy of novels. About Stephanie (Blake Lively) who loses her family in a terrorist attack. Who goes out for revenge. Well this film fails to be worth watching with its uninspired story, boring characters, and a dull direction. Blake Lively is great playing a raw and torn up character. If you are looking for an awesome female action film I will suggest Atomic Blonde, Anna, or even Jennifer Garner's revenge flick Peppermint was even better than this.

The plot lacks development and plot. The film begins with Stephanie, wasting away her life addicted to drugs and being a prostitute. A journalist discovers her and helps her with information about the terrorist attack that took away many lives including her family. She finds Iain (Jude Law) who trained her to be a skilled fighter and survivalist. Which then, he sends her on contracts to kill the terrorists that are responsible for the bombing.

The plot is a bit boring for a revenge action thriller. Iain is sending Stephanie on assassin contracts. Trying to find the leader that was responsible. There is nothing worth mentioning about the story. It was lacking the emotional development building to even care about these characters.

The direction is boring. The action was nothing worth talking about for those few scenes. It is kind of like an origin story with Stephanie being introduced to assassinating. She was vulnerable. She has difficulties in killing a bad guy. She does make some simple mistakes that would cost innocent peoples lives. Cause her emotions got in the way and distracted her.

Blake Lively is good playing Stephanie. A raw and emotionally torn down girl. Jude Law was okay playing Iain, a former CIA who is obsessed in finding these terrorists as well. Sterling K. Brown playing a former CIA informant was just flat out one dimensional. And terrible.

The fight scenes are forgettable. The brief car chase scene is boring. It had that one long take of a car chase but nothing worth mentioning.

Overall, The Rhythm Section fails to launch an action series with Blake Lively. The story is boring. The direction failed with its boring action and forgettable characters.

In order to stop his bad dreams a young boy steals a dreamcatcher from a mysterious neighbor forcing his family to rescue him from a nightmarish entity.

I had very low expectations for Dreamkatcher given its name and unfortunately I wasn't disappointed. It was produced by and stars Radha Mitchell as Gail a child psychologist who is dating a widower Luke played by Henry Thomas. Luke has a young son called Josh who has recurring nightmares about his mother's death and he is also not a big fan of his dad's new girlfriend. And he is also apparently being taken over by a malevolent entity wanting him to kill Gail and Luke as well as their eccentric neighbour Ruth who lives close by and sells home made jams, nick nacks, spirit traps and other junk.

At not even 90 minutes long, Dreamkatcher could have been a fast paced horror film but it is not. It feels way too long and drawn out with unnecessary scenes. In the beginning over 8 minutes pass from the studio logos the opening scene and opening credits until the story really starts. The story ends at around the 1 hour 20 minute mark which means that the movie is just over 72 minutes long excluding ending credits and yet it feels much longer and might have you looking at your watch. The opening sequence is very reminiscent of the opening sequence from the shining even though here it's an aerial shot of a car driven through a forest.

The soundtrack is ominous and creepy at certain times and the acting by Radha Mitchell, Henry Thomas and Lin Shaye is good enough but they had very little to work with and the movie suffers as a result as the story is slow, convoluted predictable and boring and so ultimately is the movie. A 3.5-4 out of 10.

There just isn't any reason to watch these "fabricated movies" anymore. If want CGI I'd watch a comic-book cartoon which is what this really is and that's a shame. Gone are the days where it took real actors and animals had to interact with each other and then you saw the magic between them. The Oscars should ban any movie that has CGI fakery or have a special category for them that is "special manufactured characters/animals" and not be eligible for best movie. I see a bleak future where ALL movie characters are fake and the human beings and animals are no longer part of the Hollywood magic, only computer nerds and fake reality will exist. Thank god for books and digital copies lol.

This film does not have a clue what it wants to be.. be it comedy, action, drama, quasi-comic adaptation. It's none of the above. It's boring, repetitive, badly acted, the CGI is laughable and the action scenes pull you out of the movie.

Please, don't watch this. It is NOT good. It's not even "sso bad it's good" bad.

It's just a waste of time.

Four sisters come of age in America in the aftermath of the Civil War.

Very good performance by all crew, especially Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh. The melancholy that Timothee has added to Laurie's character gives it a sincere darkness that makes the character and his behavior more believable. Florence's dual character in the story, both as a young girl as well as a lady are portrayed well. Laurie and Amy's character bring coherency and strengthen the story. The lack of unnecessary dialogue, especially in the romantic scenes have been a more befitting choice, especially between Laurie and Amy where we see a skip in the dialogue, replaced by silence. Joe's "I tried and I failed" gives a good explanation, a good add-on to her reasons for her decision and a good complication to her later changing her mind. Her disappointment upon hearing the news is fantastic. This is More believable and tangible. I'm comparing it to the unnatural joy of Joe in The previous Version. Comedy well incorporated and funny. A little slogan in the end about domestic struggles. Good point, but Decreases the naturalness of the scene. The movie does address the fact that the ending was not intended by the writer herself in an audience-pleasing manner. Still pleasant for its genre. And we must not overlook the good music composed for this movie that suits the scenes well.

A hardened CIA operative finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family.

It's pretty formulaic. It's pretty predictable. Thus, not very interesting.

But, it has its moments. Most jokes are formulaic and predictable, but, quite a few are not and work well. I best like spoofing "Mission Impossible", it's a wonder people don't do it more, it's so ripe for spoofing. There's not enough of these good jokes to make this a good comedy, but, enough to make it acceptable.

While the girl isn't as cute as she thinks she is, she actually plays the "smart & cocky" girl pretty well and her interaction w/Bautista works well. Her mom fits the "hot mom" part very well; she doesn't act it very well, though, but, just good enough.

The boss is pretty lame, the quirky nerd-partner doesn't really work... It's best to stop exploring the weaknesses, they quickly pile up.

Focusing on the good parts, if you like such action comedies, this will be a nice, comfortable experience. Otherwise, skip it.

Definitely the most touching movie I've ever seen. usually I don't watch movies if they aren't English-speaking, but I will change this. At one point I hollowed and my boyfriend had to calm me down and tell me that it was just a movie.

An inspirational film that made me speechless. How can people make so good movies?!?! and all the creds to this little girl who is noe hell of an actor!!!!

When you think of great sports movies, Rocky, Remember the titans and Rush comes to your mind. This movie won't be know as the best sports movie of all time but would surely be among the top 20. Everything that needs to be said has already been said about the two leading stars in the movie but big shout out to the supporting cast including Jon Bernthal who was great.

The story is good but it's a biographical drama so not much can be changed even though there were few liberties were taken with few facts that were presented.

The sound design was excellent which made your heart race faster when you heard the roar of the Ford GT 40!

Cinematography by Phedon (who was also the cinematographer for the pursuit of happiness) gives us some nice shots of the race which immerses you into action.

I got to watch it as part of secret preview show! It will get few Oscar nominations but doubt it would claim any big prize. Solid 9 out of 10 for me. A must watch if you are a racing fan or a fan of good sports movie.

I say it's nothing special and I'm not a Star Wars fanatic. I've never even seen the film people are so angry about, so my review is based purely on my experience of watching this film, Knives Out.

I definitely expected more. If it's meant to be amusing, it pretty much failed on that score. This film would be better suited as a TV movie, if they even make them anymore, or something to pop up on Netflix. I didn't pay to see it and I'd feel I'd wasted my money if I had.

Visually it was enjoyable-I mean the location, the house, the production values. the family members were an unattractive bunch, so nothing to look at there. Daniel Craig's "southern" accent became grating after awhile, and I was squirming a bit with boredom, waiting for it to be over. And, when it was, my reaction was "So what? Who cares?" I can hardly remember any of it and I just watched it in the last couple of hours.

Convoluted, unrealistic and tedious, like a lot of Agatha Christie stories. How this has ended up on some people's Best Films of 2019 lists is beyond me. It was okay; nothing special.

So this is the first review I've wrote. Anyway, I don't know where these people are coming from that call the movie exciting, non-stop, incredible, OMG, etc. To be clear, I loved the first John Wick. The second one to me was eh because it got really silly with the whole "high table" and medallions and basically everyone in the world is a contract killer, etc. John Wick 3 is basically the second one, only on PCP.

The entire 3rd film is literally like watching someone play a video game with god mode on. Nothing stops him. He gets stabbed in the neck, that's ok. Stitch it up, move on. People fire hundreds of rounds at him. It's ok, they all missed. He gets hit with two cars literally back to back. He just gets up. Hell, he gets shot point blank 5/6 times and falls out of a 4th or 5th story balcony, bounces off of everything and splats on the street, it's ok, he's still alive and just "angry" now. The entire movie is just and endless line of contract killers coming up to Wick and them fighting.

Don't get me wrong, I love action movies and like I said, I loved the first one. Without a good story though, it's just silly. After about 45/50 minutes, you literally start shaking your head because it just becomes really repetitive. A friend of mine asked me how the movie was afterward. It can be summed up as "everyone goes after Wick, everyone dies, the end." The movie is also left wide open for a sequel which just blew my mind. Just stop. The movie was the equivalent of someone who was playing GTA3 their first time, just running around and shooting and killing everything that moves.

It's a good movie to watch with your family. It's not going to win an Oscar or by all means any award; But it's a heartfelt and funny movie. My family really enjoyed it. It's nice to sit and watch a decent movie with decent acting. Go watch it it's not as bad as the reviews on here make it seem.

Super spy Lance Sterling and scientist Walter Beckett are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way.

Judging by the trailer I thought that the movie was about Lance who is an amazing character with tons of one liners, a parody of common hero's, so adults would enjoy it aswell. I hoped that Walter would be a funny, sidekick with some weird ideas.

Lance was really underwhelming, the movie tried super hard to put him into action, but he just could'nt do anything. Him being a peagon was supposed to be an "upgrade" as he would become "invisible", but he acts like that like once or twice the entire movie.

Walter was super cringe, his creations instead of helping just ruined everything for Lance, and after all the pain Walter comes in and accidently deals with everything in 5 seconds. That's probably the dumbest way to make action.

As for the jokes and lines aimed at adults... I remember only 1 occasion where it was trying, no more than a sick joke.

The story had a huge mistake: It had no villain. The villain was just sitting on a chair on his island the whole movie. He had no motivation but a fail from a long time ago, which the movie never explains.
